How ShopProfit Estimates Etsy Take-Home & Net Profit
1. The Revenue & Deductions Formula
Every calculation reconciles gross customer payment with platform fees and direct business costs to arrive at true net take-home profit:
gross revenue = item price + shipping charged to buyer
total platform fees = listing fee + transaction fee + payment processing + regulatory operating fee + offsite ads + etsy plus allocation
net profit = gross revenue − platform fees − production cost − packaging/shipping cost − Etsy Plus allocation
profit margin = (net profit ÷ gross revenue) × 100
Fee information is based on Etsy's published fee schedules and may change. Check Etsy's current fee policy for the latest applicable fees. Fee schedule reviewed: October 2026.
2. Individual Fee Component Mathematics
A. Listing Fee
Billed at $0.20 USD per listing. For non-USD regions, the calculator uses the official local fixed listing amount published in Etsy's seller policies (£0.16 GBP, CA$0.27 CAD, A$0.28 AUD, 0,18 € EUR, ₹16.50 INR, ¥30 JPY, ₺7.00 TRY).
B. Transaction Fee (6.5%)
Calculated as 6.5% of gross revenue:
transaction fee = Math.round(gross revenue in cents × 0.065)
C. Payment Processing Fee
Varies based on seller location. Calculated on gross revenue plus any applicable buyer taxes:
processing fee = Math.round(gross revenue in cents × country processing rate) + country fixed fee in cents
D. Regulatory Operating Fee
Where applicable (UK: 0.48%, France: 1.14%, Italy: 0.80%, Spain: 0.88%, Canada: 0.50%, Turkey: 1.67%, India: 0.05%):
regulatory fee = Math.round(gross revenue in cents × country regulatory rate)
E. Offsite Ads Fee (0%, 12%, or 15%)
When an order is attributed to an external ad, the selected fee rate is assessed and capped at $100.00 USD (or equivalent in local currency):
offsite fee = Math.min(Math.round(gross revenue in cents × offsite rate), country offsite cap in cents)
F. Etsy Plus Proration
When the Etsy Plus subscription toggle is enabled, the monthly $10 subscription is prorated across your estimated monthly sales volume:
etsy plus per sale = Math.round(monthly plus cost in cents ÷ sales per month)
3. Pricing Helpers: Break-Even & Target Profit
A. Break-Even Price Calculation
The break-even price is the exact minimum item selling price required so that net profit equals $0.00, keeping buyer shipping, production costs, shipping costs, and advertising rates constant. ShopProfit solves for break-even through an exact cent-by-cent ascending search that guarantees mathematical convergence even under nonlinear fee caps.
B. Target Profit Price Calculation
Target profit pricing calculates the necessary item price to yield your desired dollar take-home amount after covering all platform deductions and fulfillment costs.
